Dead Rising is preparing a very nice surprise for its fans and giving us an announcement that no one saw coming.
When we think of Capcom, we immediately think of Resident Evil, Monster Hunter or even Street Fighter. The Japanese publisher and developer has many strong licenses in its catalog that come up very often, but others are treated somewhat differently. But Capcom has just made us an announcement that will delight zombie fans by bringing out one of the most popular and atypical games in its catalog.
The Dead Rising license is not dead, far from it!
In one of the secondary pockets of the company’s portfolio, we find Dead Rising, a license born in 2006 on Xbox 360. At the time, the game made a lot of noise because it impressed. Thanks to the omnipotence of the next-gen of the time, Capcom wows us by announcing an open world mall invaded by thousands of zombies who can appear in their hundreds on the screen.
We are promised a gigantic survival-tinged sandbox in which we can use any object to fight. When it was released, it was a success. The hero, Frank West, becomes a real star, the atypical recipe in race against time mode offers great replayability, and the fights against psychopaths become downright cult.
The license will also have the right to sequels which, after a very successful second episode, will unfortunately be less and less good. Some spin-offs and remasters will also be there. From now on, we are waiting for the sequel and many fans are hoping for a return to basics, far from the slightly stupid antics of Dead Rising 4.
Without warning, Capcom will respond to one of its desires, a real return to the sources, but it will not be done with a new game, but rather a new remaster which tends rather squarely towards the remake elsewhere. The publisher has indeed just announced in great calm Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster which, as the name suggests, is a modernized version of the first episode.
Frank West returns to PS5, Xbox Series and PC
The information is very scant. We know that the game should obviously arrive this year and that it might even be more than a simple remaster. The visual overhaul is obvious. We are not talking about a simple smoothing, but a complete facade renovation. Good old Frank West, the only character visible in this first teaser, has completely changed, more gruff, even if his haircut has not changed.
Has Capcom pulled out all the stops to refresh its franchise? It’s possible. If the visual has changed like this, we can hope for an improvement in gameplay with, we hope, the disappearance of loading times between areas, for example. We will see. Capcom will certainly tell us more about Dead Rising during its next speech on July 1st at midnight.
