To one meter of a drama. While a father and his 11-month-old baby were quietly having breakfast last Sunday in the kitchen, a bullet went through the room. The dad then throws himself on the ground, without understanding what was happening. The projectile is a 12 mm caliber bullet, used for big game, and was fired by a hunter, according to Actu.fr. The mother was with the eldest daughter in the living room, who was celebrating her birthday that day. “Me, I believed in the dishes that had broken,” she confides.

Paul, the father, says: “I had shards of glass on my back, I look at the window and I see this hole and broken glass all over the room. We don’t understand what is happening to us. We make sure everyone is well. We find the ball in the next room, in the laundry room. It is by looking through the exploded window that we see a group of hunters in the distance. Mégane, the mother, therefore goes to meet them. “They are flabbergasted, do not understand how the ball could have taken this direction. They assure us that they did not fire at our house, ”she rewinds. According to the gendarmerie, “between the impact and the shooting, there would be a distance of approximately 250 m. It is quite possible that the bullet ricocheted.

Shocked

The couple, deeply shocked, filed a complaint the next day. Mégane and Paul were put on sick leave. “We don’t blame the hunter who fired. We’ve lived here for five years and we’ve never had a problem with them. On Sunday, we hear them, we know they are there, but we still avoid walking around, “they confide to our colleagues, “It could have been dramatic. We are supposed to be safe at home, in our house, not ultimately. “We fall asleep and wake up with this incident,” adds Paul.

The parents of two children are angry “against the hunting system and regulations”: “We are told that hunters cannot shoot within 300 m of houses, but that such a bullet has a range of more 3km? How is it possible ? “Proposed laws are precisely under study in Parliament, such as imposing a blood alcohol test on hunters before taking up the gun. Moving hunting areas away from homes does not seem to be under consideration for the time being.
