Expected on November 10 on the platform, The Killer is a six-chapter thriller that plunges us into the psyche of a hitman. After a contract that goes wrong, the latter turns against his clients – and against himself – during a manhunt across the planet. But, as he likes to repeat, it’s nothing personal…
In the cast, we find Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton but also Charles Parnell (Top Gun: Maverick), Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket) and Sophie Charlotte (Dark Days).
For this highly anticipated new thriller, some sequences of which were shot in Paris, David Fincher reunited with Andrew Kevin Walker, who had written the screenplay for Seven.
The first reviews of The Killer
Before its release on the streaming service, The Killer was previewed at the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival, the festival where it competes in official competition. Due to the scriptwriters’ and actors’ strike, David Fincher was the only one present in Venice to present his new film this Sunday, September 3.
The director was treated to a standing ovation and applause for 7 minutes, which somewhat disconcerted him, as the video below can testify. The filmmaker even tried to leave the screening room during the applause.
The first feedback from the press and festival-goers on The Killers is rather positive, with rave reviews for some, and more measured or even reluctant for others. For the moment, David Fincher’s thriller is doing with more than correct ratings, since it has a score of 73/100 on Metacritic and 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
