A leak reveals more details about the Motorola Frontier and its 194 Mpx sensor


We know that Motorola is working on a new very high-end smartphone that relies heavily on photography. Renderings of the device, dubbed Frontier, recently leaked online.

Motorola does not hide its ambitions and intends to regain its place in the very high-end smartphone market. To do this, the firm is currently developing a premium device that is codenamed Frontier. The famous leaker Evan Blass recently posted 3D renderings of the latter on his private account, and shared some info about him. The opportunity to look a little more at its specificities, while taking big tweezers.

A very high-end technical sheet

The smartphone should be equipped with a 6.7-inch curved P-Oled screen capable of offering a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Under the slab, we would find the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, an overclocked version of the last SoCs from Qualcomm. Autonomy could be ensured by a 4500 mAh battery, compatible with fast charging at 125 W. Suffice to say that it would not take more than half an hour to refuel. According to Blass, it would also be compatible with wireless charging at 50 W.

What obviously challenges is its huge main photo sensor, which overlooks two other more compact modules. Previous rumors claimed that this wide-angle was a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP1, but it ultimately seems that this is not the case. A closer look at the renderings reveals a reference to a 194 megapixel sensor, equipped with an optical stabilization system and a size of 1/1.5″.

If the size of the module is not always synonymous with better photography, it is still intriguing. It would also be accompanied by an ultra wide-angle of 50 megapixels and a telephoto lens of 12 megapixels. Motorola would have opted for a 60 megapixel sensor housed in the front punch. This model therefore seems to rely above all on the photo to stand out from the competition.

The smartphone could be launched from July, and we should get much more information by then.
