a lightened bac 2020?

In this whirlwind coronavirus, the government ensures that the baccalaureate 2020 will take place. But the test could have some modifications.

"Yes the bin must take place ", said Jean-Michel Blanquer, the Minister of National Education. If a cancellation of the tests is not envisaged, the latter works on "amenities", made essential by the forced confinement of 700,000 French high school students since the announcement of the closure of all schools on March 16, because of the Covid-19.

In discussion with union organizations and parents' associations, the government is developing several scenarios. The goal is to find a solution "consensual"to be announced"in the second half of next week".

The envisaged directives

The Minister of Education would favor the introduction of a dose of continuous monitoring. This solution could make up for some of the lost time, while extending teaching beyond June 17, as initially planned. A point already raised by some, like the deputy Matthieu Orphelin who, accompanied by a collective of teachers, pupils and parents of pupils, wishes "make this third quarter a useful quarter for our young people and which does not aggravate inequalities".

"We would have more time to have weeks of classes in June, which would make up for those we are currently losing", believes Jean-Michel Blanquer.

The implementation of this continuous monitoring does not necessarily mean that no test will take place. The government could indeed decide to keep some of them, especially for the dominant matters.

The idea would thus be to keep only a few final tests, such as philosophy, written or oral, as suggested by several teachers' unions. It remains to be determined which ballots will be taken into account, and which coefficients will be applied.

According to the Sunday Journal, the French exam for the pupils of Première could be reduced, with 16 texts to study against 20 initially. As for the common continuous control tests counting for the bac 2021, the Minister could decide to shift them, or even cancel them.
