“I had the basis of the scenario, with the beginning of dialogue and a structure, developed by Clément Marchand and Milan Mauger. But, very quickly, I explained to my producers that I could not go any further until the casting was finalized.

“I made an Instagram post. I didn’t have any specific criteria, I wasn’t closed to anything, to any handicap, but I wanted personalities. And then it had to work, between them, to form the best possible team. In all, I saw around fifty candidates… And the strength of the educators amazed me again: they are paid a pittance, but they sometimes come from very far away, in a minibus, with two, three, four adults of whom they take care… They believe in themselves, they love their job, they go for it! I already knew that, but it blew my mind.“
On our microphone, Artus specifies: “I took inspiration from them because if I had written the role of an adult with Down syndrome who is a fan of Dalida and I had to find the guy who really is, it would have been complicated! I actually cast them before I finished writing because I wanted it to really be them.“

About the genesis of the film, Artus says: “The desire to make this film goes back even further than the creation of the character of Sylvain. There was also the sketch on disabled sports. It’s a subject that I have always dealt with because it has always been taboo. For me, it’s important to talk about it, because we need to “debunk” it. I don’t know if this is being said, but in any case, the day it is no longer taboo, we will have passed a milestone. (…) There is a need to talk about it. As with many themes and many things that need to be trivialized.“
