Johnny Hallyday’s legacy is very complicated for his relatives, who ended up tearing themselves apart. With David Hallyday, his half-brother, both decided to attack Laeticia Hallyday, the sole heiress of the singer. On July 3, 2020, an agreement was reached with Laura Smet. The widow of Taulier, who kept the houses of Marne-la-Coquette and Saint-Barth, agreed to pay the sum of 2.6 million euros to her ex-daughter-in-law. “Laeticia expressed the wish to reach an agreement with her husband’s elders. It is about the peace demanded by mourning, as well as the serenity that must live in every family”, indicated Gilles Gauer, his lawyer. He then clarified that Laeticia Hallyday had “asked to achieve a number of goals, the first of which was to find an agreement that allows to build the future to recreate peace within the family, an agreement on the future of Johnny’s work, and protector particularly with regard to Jade and Joy“. A legal battle which separated the relatives of Johnny Hallyday since Laeticia Hallyday and the elders of Johnny no longer have contact. “If we had been able to sit around a table, with empathy and compassion, I’m sure we could have solved the problem much sooner. We would have hugged and moved on“, had lamented the widow of the singer, assuring that this media coverage was the last straw.

Laeitica Hallyday continues to surprise. Faced with Yann Barthès, the widow of Taulier chained confidences and in particular one which was very unexpected. “I could never call him Johnny my husband. I used to call him something else. I can call him Johnny today”, she revealed. The reason ? The singer couldn’t stand her calling him by his first name. “He hated it deeply, it was horrible for him that I called him that. I tried afterwards. I used to call him ‘my man’, ‘my lover’, but he’s gone and I get to call him Johnny today” she continued, very moved. In 23 years of marriage, Laeticia Hallyday has therefore never been able to call the Taulier by his first name. “Johnny didn’t belong to me. He has always shared his life with his fans, with the French, with his public“, she concluded.
