A love scene between Swann Arlaud and Sandra Hüller in “Anatomy of a Fall”? “Please don’t…”

Nominated for a César and an Oscar for her role in “Anatomy of a Fall”, Sandra Hüller explained how an intimate sequence with Swann Arlaud ultimately did not find its place in the film.

Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, five nominations at the next Oscars (in the running in the categories Best Film, Best Direction, Best Actress for Sandra Hüller, Best Editing and Best Original Screenplay), two Golden Globes in the bag, 11 Cesar nominations , without forgetting a generous harvest of prizes gleaned from different festivals.

It’s an understatement to say that a more than favorable wind is blowing in the sails of Justin Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall.

Invited as part of the Rotterdam International Film Festival, the film’s lead actress, Sandra Hüller, also starring in The Zone of Interest, revealed (via Variety) that a sex scene with Swann Arlaud had been removed from the film. Producer Marie-Ange Luciani pleaded for it to be scrapped.

“There was an explicit sex scene in the film, you could see that relationship, and she said, ‘Please don’t do it, it’s too ’80s,’ and that’s all It’s true. Why do people always have to prove they love each other by sleeping together? It’s so normal!”

In the film, lawyer Vincent Renzi, played by Swann Arlaud, is a former acquaintance of Sandra Voyter, and does not hide the fact that he was previously in love with her. A passion far from being extinguished in fact, which is not without posing a problem in their relationship as lawyer and client.

If you would like to treat yourself to a catch-up session of Anatomy of a Fall before its possible future consecrations at the Oscars and César 2024, the film is available on VOD for purchase or rental, as well as on DVD / Blu -ray.
