a magnificent remaster that buries Rockstar’s

Want to (re)discover one of the most popular installments of the GTA franchise without a new day? It’s possible with this new addition which promises to bring a lot of changes to the experience.

Currently, when we talk about GTA, we necessarily think of the sixth opus, which is scheduled for release in 2025. It is one of the releases most anticipated by players, and we understand why. The game looks promising, and in just one trailer, it has broken all records. But there you go, you still have to be patient. To compensate for the wait, you can always (re)visit an old title in the franchise which has received new features thanks to the community.

GTA San Andreas is getting a makeover, but there’s work to be done

Let’s not get to the heart of the matter immediately. First, we’ll have to do a refresher. In 2022, Nvidia unveiled the RTX Remix at a conference. In short, it is a technology allowing old games to be remastered, with the aim of giving them a second life (at least, graphically). It’s accessible to everyone, since it takes the form of a free modding platform. Once there, you can get down to business and put together a mod for, for example, GTA San Andreas.

Above, you can find the video from MxBenchmarkPC, which shows you the famous GTASA RTX-Remix Project mod. It is important to note that it is not yet finished. You can download it, but keep in mind that this does not represent the finished product. In any case, there are some rather interesting additions, such as path tracing. We’ll let you discover all that, but it goes without saying that it’s quite impressive. Even if it is not without flaws, as you will quickly notice.

You will surely have noticed, but the mod still requires a little work. There seems to be some issues with light management and for some people, the atmosphere is no longer the same. What constitutes the unique atmosphere of GTA San Andreas disappears a little with the RTX Remix. Again, this is still being improved. Furthermore, if you are interested in installing it, know that it is better to have a good war machine. For good reason, the technology used to remaster these games is very demanding, regardless of the title you launch.

The community loves San Andreas

In truth, this is the first time that GTA San Andreas has received a visual facelift. Last year, a fan made it clear that he was not satisfied with the remaster offered by Rockstar in 2021 with its Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy The Definitive Edition. He therefore decided to take matters into his own hands, by offering his own remaster/remake of the game. We are far from the result given by the RTX Remix, for the simple reason that it is fanmade. It is therefore not possible to have access to it, which changes everything. However, it’s always interesting to see the community’s creations, reflecting all the love they have for this license.
