Accused of physical and moral violence on his partner, the mayor of Épreville-près-le-Neubourg, in the Eure, was sentenced to five months in prison. The chosen one nevertheless tried to extinguish the affair in the press, and it is a big failure.

Jean-Christophe Pisani, mayor of a municipality in Lower Normandy, was tried on November 16, 2021 for “usual violence followed by incapacity for more than eight days” on his wife, committed from November 1, 2015 to April 5, 2021. His ex-partner accused him of physical and moral violence, but the man only admitted physical violence. He was sentenced by the court of Évreux to a five-month suspended prison sentence and had to pay 1 euro for moral damage.

A case that the elected official tried to cover up, according to the newspaper Paris-Normandie, which relates the affair. Indeed, the journalist explains at the end of his article reporting the judgment: “Not content with this judgment, and to avoid any publicity likely to damage his reputation, the elected official, with questionable probity, did not find better than to offer money to our legal columnist to prevent this business does not find place in our columns and on our website “. The article specifies that Mr. Pisani’s approach “has remained in vain”.

A minimization of violence by the mayor

Among the violence, some resulted in ten days of total incapacity for work for the former wife of the mayor. “The medical certificate indicates melanoma on the wrist, dental and nasal pain, a bite mark”, details Paris Normandy. At the origin of this violence, an altercation related to the fact that the mayor had an extramarital relationship. The chosen one maintains that “All the municipal council and the inhabitants of the town were aware of the connection, I thought I was going to have to leave my elected post. It was very complicated for me”, said Jean-Christophe Pisani during his trial reported by actu.fr.

For his part, his ex-partner speaks of physical violence, but also moral, explaining: “He had a hold on me, he said he was going to change, but it was lie upon lie”. When the president of the court asks the elected “Did you regularly utter insults, demeaning words against your partner?”, this one answered: “I was not tender, I did not know how to say the right thing, I did not measure the impact of my words. Today I realize the harm I have done to him.” This did not prevent him from putting pressure on a media so that nothing filtered outside the court.
