fun, news, tips… what else?

A Belgian felt a real shock when he opened his electricity bill at the end of April. Indeed, his supplier demanded more than a million euros. A sum well above what he usually pays.

The note was more than salty for this inhabitant of Herseaux in Belgium. And it’s not a belgian joke. On April 30, Alexandre opened his mail and discovered his electricity bill. It was a real shock. To the point that he checked several times if the letter was authentic and its amount. Its electricity supplier, Engie, claimed more than one million euros, 1,279,611, 43 euros precisely.

“I couldn’t believe it, I thought it was a joke. I checked three times if it was a real letter from Engie. And then I had to read it again three times to understand that I wasn’t hallucinating not”, he explained to RTL Info. He then took his phone to ask the supplier for explanations. Unfortunately, the man comes across a customer service person who cannot help him. “She told me that she couldn’t do anything for me and that I had to wait for her to talk about it with her superiors”he confided, before specifying, visibly angered by the response obtained : “She told me that just after telling me that I had a week to file an appeal before being charged.”

Alexandre, forced to threaten Engie

No news for two days and very stressed by the situationAlexandre then decides to call back and to be firm, even a bit menacing : “I contacted them again saying that if they did nothing, I was going to tell this story to the media. I don’t like doing that, but I was completely helpless. […] I didn’t sleep for two days, I was in really bad shape.” It will take a few more days for the Belgian to receive an answer: “One of their collaborators called me to reassure me and tell me that I was not going to be debited. She then explained to me that it was a computer bug. I was reassured but I can tell you that the level of stress I had at that time, I haven’t forgotten.” Engie explained to the website that the origin of the problem came from the presence of solar panels in Alexandre’s house. In question ? A missing document which caused the manager to count the 998,000 kW displayed on the meter as positive and not as negative. If the story ends well for Alexandre, the latter remains marked by this experience : “I don’t trust them now”he said.
