Cynthia, a 28-year-old woman, has been missing for two years. According to La Dépêche, the gendarmes think she could be alive but indoctrinated by a prophetic movement.
Her name is Cynthia Stragapède and has been missing since August 2019. She was 28 at the time. And while her loved ones believed her dead, a new lead recently arose that suggested she might still be alive. Indeed, according to The Dispatch, the gendarmes in charge of the investigation suspect the young woman to have been indoctrinated by the extremist members of a prophetic movement called “the Seventh-day Adventists”, which functions as a religious sect.
Cynthia Stragapède disappeared two years ago in Haute-Garonne. Investigators found her belongings in the town of Montrabé in September, and discovered that she had in fact not given any sign of life since mid-August. His handbag, which contained his identity papers, was found near a river. Her family hadn’t worried until then, since the young woman used to be absent several times, without giving her any news.
An important psychiatric past
The young woman has a heavy psychiatric past. She has been interned several times. With this information, the gendarmes therefore initially thought that she had been able to end her life. Especially since by the river, with his handbag, his clothes were also found. The area has been searched. And after several days of investigation, the suicide thesis was dismissed.

The entourage of the young woman was questioned. After carrying out several searches and other cross-checks, the gendarmes realized that there was a link between her and “the Seventh-day Adventists”. If this movement is seen as pacifist, it can attract malicious people with extreme ideas and determined to influence the weak.

The investigators also decided to favor this track by identifying a similar case of disappearance. A young woman of the same age, named Marie, disappeared under the same conditions and at the same time, before being spotted in an Adventist community. Is she there voluntarily? No one knows. But if it turned out that Cynthia was there too, the gendarmes couldn’t force her out.
