Five people, including four children aged 3 to 12, were found dead in a Grenoble apartment late Friday. It would be a mother and her four children, according to police sources, who are awaiting confirmation from forensic experts.
The first elements of the investigation “suggest a homicide for the children then a suicide for the mother, all by taking dangerous drugs”said the same source.
Deputy public prosecutor Boris Duffau said in a statement that the bodies were discovered at 10:14 p.m. Friday in a state of decomposition in an unsanitary apartment in the Villeneuve district.
“Given the state of the bodies, the identities could not yet be verified with certainty but the mother of the family would be 39 years old and the children 3, 8, 10 and 12 years old, can we read in the press release. A medical examiner came to the spot, autopsies will be carried out to determine the causes of death.
The alert was given by an acquaintance because the family did not respond to calls. The firefighters intervened in the apartment, the door of which was closed. They discovered the bodies in the middle of the evening.
