After almost three long years of almost total absence, we finally have some news from the legendary Gears of War saga and the development studio that is at the head of it: The Coalition. The news is also rather good: a new game is in the pipeline, but that will not surprise anyone, as well as a series of remasters!
Gears 6: Far ambitious project?
A year earlier, the news fell: there wouldn’t be much to hope for for the Gears of War saga for quite a while. At least that’s what seemed to indicate. the official press release published by the development team on May 10, 2021. She explained that she was indeed moving towards Unreal Engine 5 for the development of her upcoming games, but that such a change implies that it will certainly take time before new content be deployed. However, Gears 5 continues to be supplied with regular updates to keep fans of the license waiting.
In the same vein, several job offers have rather recently been posted on The Coalition’s official Twitter account, as well as on the studio’s website. Among the positions to be filled, we know that these exist:
- Quality Assurance Director
- Senior Multiplayer Designer
- Senior UI Artist
- Story Director
Many other positions are of course offered, and nothing precisely indicates to date that all of them are intended to be dedicated to Gears 6 since we already know that another project unrelated to this saga would also be under development. for the studio. However, we can hope without too much fear that at least some of these recruitment announcements are dedicated to Gears of War. If true, then it could mean that the development team is already working on the next installment in the series.
Gears of War Collection planned for 2022?
It’s during from the last episode podcast XboxEra that the co-host of the show once again hinted at the subject of a remastered collection dedicated to the Gears of War license:
Although the author of these remarks does not explicitly mention the Gears of War series, it is in the replay of the show that we find this titled portion then “Oh, Gears Collection?“. If we are to believe this supposed announcement, which, let’s remember, is not official and must be taken with great tweezers, then a remastered version of certain opuses of the license would be planned for current 2022.
Since we know that Gears 6 will probably not be announced for a little while, it is quite easily possible that the Gears Collection will be unveiled during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase scheduled for June 12. According to another podcaster, each Microsoft development studio has at least one announcement to make. Could The Coalition be preparing an announcement for us concerning a remastered version of certain episodes of its flagship saga in order to finance its a priori very ambitious current project?
In 2015, Gears of War Ultimate Edition already offered a first remastered version of the first episode of the license, allowing it to see the light of day on PC. But the next two installments in the original trilogy were never made available anywhere other than on select Xbox consoles. If such a reworked edition were planned, then it would probably be Gears of War 2 and 3 that would benefit from it╝ or even possibly the spin-off released in 2013, again exclusive to Microsoft consoles: Gears of War Judgment.
The confirmation (or not) of this rumor will therefore undoubtedly take place during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12, 2022. What’s new? What price ? What release date? So many questions that we could get the answers to in the relatively near future!

Xbox Games Showcase: Many major announcements to expect?
Just a month before it is held, some rumors already indicate that the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase could be the scene of many announcements for most of the firm’s studios. Maybe even news from Blizzard games, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight and Diablo for example?
