The wave of anime adaptations is coming stronger than ever. After Cowboy Bebop, One Piece And Avatar: The Last Airbenderit’s the turn of Naruto to have the right to its live-action remake, signed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
From comic book to manga
Adam Fogelson, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, made the information official. The studio behind the franchises Hunger Games, John Wick And Twilight will produce this new version of the cult manga published from 1999 to 2014, already adapted into an extremely popular anime in 2002, and which tells the adventures of young Naruto Uzumaki, who dreams of becoming the ninja and protector of his village.
This future film will therefore be written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, already behind the Marvel camera. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and acclaimed States of Grace. He is currently filming the future Marvel series Wonder Mancoming to the Disney+ streaming platform.
The original manga was created by Masashi Kishimoto, who will actively collaborate on this adaptation: “When I heard about Destin’s involvement, it was right after seeing one of his hit action films, and I thought he would be the perfect director for “Naruto”. (…) I understood that his strong point was to create solid and human dramas, and I became convinced that there was no other way. ©possible director.
This live action film will also be produced by Avi and Ari Arad (Unchartedmovies Spiderman), and Daniel Cretton. Although no release date has yet been announced, this adaptation project has been in Lionsgate’s drawers since 2015.
Animated series Naruto are available for streaming on the Netflix, Prime Video, Crunchyroll and Paramount+ platforms.
