ASUS presents the latest iteration of its Chromebook called “CX1” which puts everything flat, with the exception of its battery.

Announced as the strong competitor of a laptop PC, whether for daily use, for studies or work, the ASUS Chromebook CX1 has many arguments to convince.

ASUS puts things straight

The main thing that catches the eye with the Chromebook CX1 is its up to 14″ anti-glare FHD screen crowned by a 720p webcam, in a particularly thin and light chassis of only 1.47 kg.

Aimed mainly at students and teleworkers, it also has a 180° hinge. This allows the Chromebook CX1 to be completely flat, in order to present its work more easily to its peers.

This new ASUS Chromebook does not skimp on performance, since it features up to an Intel Pentium Silver quad-core processor, 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM (for a maximum capacity of 16 GB) and a 128 GB eMMC hard drive .

On the connectivity side, it is just as solid, notably supporting dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for a connection that is as stable and fluid as possible. This is doubly ensured by proprietary ASUS Wi-Fi Master technology for the ChromeOS operating system. We can also point out the presence of two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports, a 3.5 mm combo jack and a microSD card reader.

This small but powerful machine, wrapped in a rather elegant design, is powered by a two-cell Li-ion battery ensuring a good maximum autonomy of 12 hours on a single charge. An ideal duration to work without worrying about falling flat, in short.

A sustainable ecosystem

You shouldn’t be fooled by this seemingly frail chassis. ASUS would have subjected its new Chromebook CX1 to all possible and imaginable tests in order to offer a product that is particularly resistant to the vagaries of life. Note that this new ASUS Chromebook is mostly made of recycled materials.

Who says Chromebook necessarily says ChromeOS, and all that implies within the vast ecosystem of Google. The CX1 is therefore designed to operate Google’s workspace at your fingertips. The Google Assistant is of course included, and it is possible to control this new ASUS product by voice with the famous ” OkGoogle “.

The Chromebook CX1 also intends to offer solid security for the data stored within it. Updates and antivirus protection are both managed internally automatically, so as not to hinder the productivity of its user by slowing him down unnecessarily.

It should be noted that the purchase of an ASUS Chromebook CX1 comes with a 12-month subscription to Google One, which notably includes 100 GB of cloud space on all Google services, among others benefits, and for the whole family. The big deal, but its base price and availability still remain a mystery. As a reminder, its predecessor was offered at a starting price of around 300 euros.
