a new benchmark to watch

We knew HyperX for its many peripherals. The brand is now developing its screens, with interesting features. Here is the Armada range.

The screen market is of increasing interest to manufacturers. We can see this with the recent launch of screens developed by Sony, but also with the arrival of other brands such as HyperX. The gaming brand acquired by HP has already convinced us with its audio headsets, in particular the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless. We are therefore impatient to see what it can offer as a screen.

Two references: 24 and 27 inches

HyperX is once again targeting the gaming audience and expanding its ecosystem. Now we can create a setup complete HyperX package, from keyboard and mouse to headphones, microphone and display.

The two stars of the day are 24 and 27 inches. Frandroid was able to have a demonstration during Gamescom. The small format focuses above all on performance with a Full HD IPS panel (1920 x 1080 pixels) at 240 Hz. The 27-inch version does more on image quality with QHD definition (2560 x 1440 pixels), a DCI-P3 coverage and HDR 400 certification, at the cost of lowering the display frequency to 165 Hz.

Both screens benefit from G-Sync and Freesync certifications, and use panels with 1 ms response time.

One of the strong points of these screens is undoubtedly the adjustable ergonomic arm which takes up the design of the VESA feet usually sold as an option. You can therefore adjust the screen in height and at all angles, and even turn it to a vertical format, at no extra cost. The screen remains VESA compatible if you still want to use it with an alternative stand or arm. HyperX also offers its ergonomic arm for those who would like to equip other screens: 149.99 euros for the arm with its foot and 99.99 euros for an additional arm (double screen). The total weight supported is 9 kg per arm.

On the connector side, HyperX is betting on the classic with a DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.0 ports. It will therefore be necessary to accept some limitations on the latest consoles, in particular on the side of the PlayStation 5. The two new consoles Xbox and PlayStation are rather turned towards HDMI 2.1 screens.

Another feature of HyperX screens: the integration of a hardware FPS counter to monitor the performance of your machine. As it is a function integrated into the screen, it is compatible with PCs as well as game consoles or any device capable of extending its display to the screen.

On the software side, HyperX had the good idea to offer its configuration options in its NGENUITY software which already allows you to manage all its peripherals. Of course, it is still possible to make the settings directly on the screen with the physical buttons, but it is less convenient than a mouse interface.

The two HyperX displays will be available from September 2022. For the moment, HyperX is communicating prices of 549.99 and 599.99 euros for the 24 or 27 inch versions respectively. The brand warns that prices can always change, and that retailers are free to set their prices. We can’t wait to test them.
