a new game canceled by Activision Blizzard

According to the Franchise Ambassador, Activision has terminated development of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. The cancellation is believed to be a direct result of Vicarious Visions merging with Blizzard.

Pro skateboarder Tony Hawk has revealed an Activision project that should never see the light of day. In fact, he states that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 was put in the closet. A decision which does not suggest a bright future for the license which had nevertheless come back in force.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 canceled by Activision

During a live with streamer andyTHPS, Tony Hawk claimed that Activision was working on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remake. Like the previous compilation, Vicarious Visions should have been in charge of the project. But with the absorption of the studio by Blizzard, everything fell apart.

This was the plan until the release of the remake of 1 and 2. We were developing THPS 3 and 4 and then Vicarious Visions was absorbed. Then they looked for other developers, and then it was over.

Tony Hawk.

What happened with the other studios? Activision did not regain the same confidence it had with Vicarious Visions and did not like the proposals that were made.

The truth is that Activision was trying to find someone to do THPS 3+4, but the trust in other studios was not the same as with Vicarious. They still listened to other proposals from studios to find out what they would do with THPS. But they didn’t like what they heard, and that’s it. Who knows ? Maybe when this is all sorted out, we’ll find a solution. We never know. I never thought we were going to do THPS 1+2, 20 years later.

With this merger, we were already worried about whether the franchise was in danger. The fact that a “simple” remake is canceled, while the basics are there, is not the most reassuring. But as Tony Hawk says ” who knows ? ยป
