a new hope for this much-loved series

This much-loved Star Wars series has not said its last word. In any case, its main actor is ready to return to the forefront to continue telling great stories.

For several years, the series Star Wars follow one another with mixed results. If some, like The Mandalorianhave been able to captivate a large audience and restore the image of the franchise, others, such as The Book of Boba Fettreceived a more lukewarm reception. This inconsistency has left fans sometimes excited, sometimes disappointed, with ups and downs in the quality of the storylines, visual effects and character development. In the middle of this contrasting landscape, Obi-Wan Kenobi managed to make an impression, giving hope for a sequel.

A sequel for this Star Wars series?

Ewan McGregor gave fans hope Star Wars by raising the possibility of a season 2 for Obi-Wan Kenobi. At LA Comic Con, the actor revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm are currently “exploring” ideas for this new season. If nothing is confirmed yet, it is still an encouraging sign, especially after his statements in February where he affirmed that there was no ongoing discussion on this subject.

Despite the success of the first season and the enthusiasm around the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Anakin Skywalker, Disney has not yet formalized a season 2. This contrasts with other series Star Wars which were quickly renewed, as The Mandalorian.

Still, McGregor is determined. He even shared his desire to film additional scenes with Christensen, including flashbacks inspired by Star Wars: The Clone Wars. According to him, there are still many stories to tell between the end of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alec Guinness’ time playing the character in the original trilogy.

A universe in full swing

While Obi-Wan’s future remains unclear, the universe Star Wars continues to evolve. Several projects are in progress, such as the series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew which arrives in December 2024. We are also waiting for season 2 of Andor and of Ahsoka. Without forgetting the film centered on The Mandalorian and Grogu scheduled for May 2026.
