The Nvidia RTX 4080 SUPER leaked
In fact, the leaks reveal that the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card offers similar performance to its predecessor, the 4080 Non-SUPER model. This information comes from the Geekbench 5 database, a synthetic benchmarking tool. Although Geekbench 6 is now available, Geekbench 5 remains relevant for evaluating the graphics power of cards.
In these tests, the RTX 4080 SUPER achieved scores of 309.554 points in CUDA, 264.806 points in OpenCL, and 100.378 points in Vulkan. However, the result of the Vulkan test, considered less reliable in this case, was set aside. CUDA and OpenCL tests indicate that the performance of the RTX 4080 SUPER is comparable to that of the 4080 Non-SUPER, despite a slight increase in core count.
Developed by Nvidia, CUDA is a platform that allows GPUs to perform general calculations outside of graphics. A high CUDA score signals strong ability in parallel computing, essential for tasks like 3D rendering and AI. OpenCL is a programming platform for general GPU computing, compatible with various manufacturers. A good OpenCL score indicates that the card is versatile, effective for a variety of tasks beyond Nvidia-specific applications. Finally, Vulkan is an API focused on graphics and parallel computing.
Not that powerful but…
According to Geekbench’s OpenCL test, the RTX 4080 SUPER outperforms its Non-SUPER counterpart by 7%. However, it is important to note that these results do not necessarily reflect actual in-game performance. The RTX 4080 SUPER remains competitive against competing models like AMD’s RX 7900 XTX, although the performance gap is modest. .
The specialist site VideoCardz raises questions about the consistency of these results, particularly because they appear to come from Geekbench 5 when Geekbench 6 is now more commonly used. Additionally, Nvidia has yet to release an official driver for the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, which raises more doubts about the reliability of these leaks. All this therefore remains to be taken with a grain of salt.
