More Marvel at Disney+

Warning, this article may contain spoilers about the character of Vision. Vision, the synthezoid played by Paul Bettany, made his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Age of Ultron. After his tragic death at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, Vision was dramatically resurrected in the series WandaVision in 2021. The character returned in two distinct forms: a magical creation of Wanda Maximoff, and a reconstructed android with a white appearance and no memory of his past life. Marvel chose Terry Matalas to direct this project due to his impressive work on season 3 of Star Trek: Picard, which received critical acclaim and earned Matalas a WGA Awards nomination for the series finale. Marvel Studios head and big Star Trek fan Kevin Feige was particularly impressed with Matalas, solidifying his decision to bring him on board for this new Marvel series.

This new series on Vision represents a strategic change for Marvel in its television production. Since 2022, Marvel has taken a more traditional approach to television, with a longer development period and the appointment of showrunners to oversee all production. This series will be Marvel’s first new live-action production in almost two years.
