OnePlus has been multiplying promotional visuals for a week on Chinese social networks. On Tuesday March 7, the brand owned by the giant BBK finally formalized its new OnePlus Ace 2V smartphone. A model supposed to be a watered down and cheaper version of the Ace 2, released in early February 2023… with an additional car key option.

The smartphone will be sold from Monday March 13 in China, according to Gizmochina. However, the leaker Max Jambor was advancing at the end of February on his Twitter account that this model could also be released internationally as early as July 2023 as the OnePlus Nord 3.

A false twin of the Ace 2

If it is supposed to be the little brother of the OnePlus Ace 2, the Ace 2V rather resembles its false twin: if its internal components are very similar, the design of the most recent is very different. We therefore end up with a glass-backed smartphone with a 6.74-inch screen against a refresh rate of 120 Hz for a slightly lighter weight of 191 grams. But where the Ace 2’s screen curves at the sides, the Ace 2V’s is flat, surrounded by flat metal bezels. OnePlus’ Alert Slider is always present.

Likewise, the internal processor changes: we go from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to Dimensity 9000 on the Ace 2 V. In terms of photos, a central punch is present for the 16-megapixel selfie camera. On the back, two large black circles bring together the three small photo lenses: a 64-megapixel wide-angle module accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module and a 2-megapixel macro module.

The OnePlus Ace 2V will be sold in China for the equivalent of 310 to 380 euros (after conversion from the yuan) according to the three variants of RAM and storage: 12 GB + 256 GB, 16 GB + 256 GB or 16 GB + 512 GB.

Your smartphone as a car key

On the other hand, another feature could differentiate it from other smartphones of its competitors on the Chinese market: the possibility of using this OnePlus Ace V2 as a car key for certain vehicle models.

In any case, this is what the Chinese news site reports. IT-House, using visuals shared by OnePlus on social networks. In the two images, the brand evokes the compatibility of the smartphone with two technologies from two different Chinese car manufacturers: the Ace 2V could be used as a key for Ideal brand vehicles via its Bluetooth connection and the “Ideal Car», as well as for BYD brand vehicles via its NFC chip. The visuals also specify that this feature would be usable even without a network.

If the smartphone’s technical sheet does mention compatibility with eSE technology, dedicated in particular to securing an NFC connection to open a car, this functionality may not be available when the OnePlus Ace 2V is released since the brand has not communicated more. on this function. However, the presence of an option similar to Apple’s Car Key is still quite rare on the Android smartphone market. It remains to be seen whether such partnerships will be established with other manufacturers for the international version of this model.
