A new update is available for Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy and it should greatly improve the gaming experience on Nintendo Switch.
Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy was undoubtedly one of the games of this year 2023. In our columns, it almost received the ultimate rating with a 9/10 “Fantastic”. A game which will perhaps not convince those insensitive to Harry Potter magic, but which remains a “huge slap” for our dear Camille. Since its release and our test, the title has arrived on Nintendo Switch but it was not at all the same slap in the face. To remedy the problems, a patch has been posted online.
A colossal update to the rescue of Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC… and even Nintendo Switch! A delayed release on the Big N hybrid which worried the owners of the machine. And some had flair because carrying is a disaster. Simplified lighting, 576p in portable mode or 720p in docked mode, frequent drops to 20fps, anti-aliasing and more, Digital Foundry’s verdict was not flattering.
Among the flaws, the loading times when entering/exiting Hogsmeade stores have also been criticized. But surprise, a new update of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch seems to do some good. A Reddit user confirmed that the loading times in this specific case “are much better”. And it is not a hazard. This is one of the improvements Warner listed in the patch notes. Here are the other general fixes.

- The book on the pedestal will no longer be a victim of clipping
- Improved loading times when entering and exiting Hogsmeade stores
- Fixed texture flickering when the character is standing at a certain distance at the Golden Perch
- Fixed a bug where it was impossible to destroy pillars after restarting a mission
- Fixed a number of issues related to saves
- Additions and changes for game credits
- Fixed an issue where a line of dialogue was repeated that concerns the mission to save the phoenix. When a save was reloaded, this line reappeared even though the phoenix was not there
Lots of improvements for the Harry Potter game on Nintendo Switch
The Hogwarts Legacy Nintendo Switch patch doesn’t do things by halves, incorporating over 100 fixes and improvements. The full list of patch notes can be viewed online. But be aware that this update includes adjustments absolutely everywhere. Whether general revisions, relating to audio, avatar, combat, characters, enemies and NPCs, open world, wizard school, effects and interface users, or even performance. You should have fewer crashes, better loading times, a more stable framerate depending on the location and/or action, among other things. It won’t solve the fundamental problems linked to the lack of power of the console, but it’s already a solution.
