The Christmas holiday season has already begun for many. Yes, already, even though it’s not even December yet. You’re probably not aware, but recently, the Killer Instinct franchise celebrated its 10th anniversarye birthday in grand style. For latecomers, it’s a fighting game that accompanied the launch of the Xbox One. For its part, Iron Galaxy intends to take care of the game, and it clearly wanted to please as many people as possible. The title is now free on Steam and Xbox consoles, but there is one condition.
Indeed, currently, there are two versions of the game: the one which is now free-to-play, and the Killer Instinct Anniversary Edition for the sum of €29.99. But then, what is the difference? If you opt for the option which does not heat up the credit card, there will be less content. Yes, Steam and Xbox cannot have it both ways. So, even if there are solo and ranked modes, you should not count on the presence of all the fighters. Those you can select will be handpicked and accessible via a weekly rotation.
This great gift from the studio comes as part of an update for the game. One of its biggest consequences is the disappearance of the Definitive Edition. The latter included Killer Instict Classic 1 & 2, concept art and developer interviews. In fact, the Anniversary Edition will replace it, but unfortunately it will not include its bonus content. Furthermore, if you have the version that is going to be withdrawn from sale, including on Steam, don’t panic. A switch will be made automatically to the other edition, at no additional cost.

This is clearly a great offer not to be missed, and we can say that it’s good to be a Steam user. Recently, we were treated to the fall sales which allowed us to recover dematerialized stickers. Obviously, it was also an opportunity to collect lots of games at a reduced price, and knowing the platform, it won’t stop there. In December, there will likely be new promotions unveiled as part of the Christmas holidays. This will be an opportunity not to be missed, and in the meantime, you can go for Killer Instinct.
