a new president elected today

Crédit Mutuel will elect its new president on Thursday, after the departure of Nicolas Théry, who will in all probability be replaced by the general director of the Crédit Mutuel Federal Alliance, Daniel Baal.

To do this, Daniel Baal will have to win three elections planned throughout the day: the presidency of the Central East Europe federation, that of the Federal Alliance (which brings together 14 of the group’s 18 federations, as well as several subsidiaries including the CIC) and finally that of the Confederation, the head body of the bank.

Observers will especially watch if the mention of a votes unanimously appears on the press release from the National Confederation at the end of the day: it will indicate a new stage of peace found between the Federal Alliance and the enemy brothers of Arka (federations of Brittany and the South-West), as well as the full support and entire of the two independent federations (Maine-Anjou, Basse-Normandie and Ocan).

Nicolas Thry advisor to the new president

Nicolas Théry, 58, was re-elected in May 2022 for a three-year term, until 2025, but announced his unexpected departure in February. He will now devote himself, according to a press release, to the challenges of the ecological, climatic and solidarity revolution, as advisor to the new president and to the Crdit Mutuel pour la lecture foundation.

Former advisor to Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Laurent Fabius at the Minister of the Economy, this left-wing narcissist moved to the CFDT with Nicole Notat, then to the European Commission, notably as chief of staff to Pascal Lamy, then European Commissioner for Trade.

Nicolas Thry presented at the beginning of February the record results achieved in 2023 by the Crdit Mutuel group, with a net profit share of the group of 3.94 billion euros.
