a nice return to favor for Xbox exclusivity

Everything obviously comes in time to those who wait. This is particularly the case for Starfield, for which players have found a strong resurgence of interest following its last major update.

Last week, Starfield received a patch radically changing the experience, particularly on Xbox Series, with, among other things, 60 and 40 FPS modes. An addition extremely awaited by console players, many of whom would have returned to the galaxy imagined by Bethesda.

Starfield is once again close to the stars

After a launch that was not without its hiccups in September 2023, Starfield is back on the launch pad. This required many patches and the last major update bringing more than welcome stability, particularly on consoles. This also added new features such as ship customization or changes to NG+. All of this seems to have greatly motivated players to return to exploring space under the banner of Constellation.

At least that’s what True Achievements reports. Starfield would have recorded a nice 72% increase in its player count on Xbox Series since the arrival of the last patch. It would thus occupy 20th place among the most played games on these consoles, compared to 29th place before the patch. However, the site does not specify exactly the number of Xbox players who have restarted the game since. The addition of 40 and 60 FPS modes for an open world RPG of this caliber has in any case done it a lot of good. The expert analysts at Digital Foundry have also released a comparative video, accessible below, showing the many benefits of the latest update in this regard.

A finally promising future for Bethesda’s latest game?

Bethesda plans to add even more new features to Starfield. One of the most anticipated is finally the arrival of land vehicles. Some players are champing at the bit and say they are ready to return to the game once this feature is deployed. This should also arrive a priori soon. Several bugs still present also deserve their share of fixes.

In any case, Xbox exclusivity definitely comes a long way, and the adventure in the stars is not yet over. Starfield will indeed welcome its first DLC, Shattered Space, during the fall. It could arrive more precisely in September, and would pay particular attention to the Va-ruun faction. We should find out for sure during the Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for June 10. And beyond that, a potential port of the game to PS5 could be on the horizon, in order to further boost sales.
