A nurse kidnapped for 2 years “treated like an animal”, slave of a family

Torture, kidnapping, rape… Between 2017 and 2019, a 24-year-old young woman was the modern slave of a brother and a sister near Toulouse. She testifies to chilling facts.

This Monday, May 22, 2023 begins a long-awaited trial before the Assize Court of Haute-Garonne. It is that of the alleged torturers of a young woman in her thirties, who was kidnapped, tortured and abused between 2017 and 2019. An appalling situation, described as modern slavery by the courts. The defendants are a brother and a sister, Alexandra and Suny Gimenez. It all started in 2017. The young woman was then 24 years old, she was a nursing assistant in an nursing home and lived in Lot-et-Garonne, where she is from. At the time, she was in a relationship with Suny, who convinced her to come with him to his sister, who lived in Carbonne, south of Toulouse. She agrees, and the trap closes around her.

Immediately, her phone is broken, her car stolen: she is now a prisoner of her executioners. She will spend two years in this house with the brother, the sister, the companion of the latter and their five children from 4 to 11 years old. She becomes the family’s handyman. The young woman’s lawyer, Me Sylvia Goudenège-Chauvin, tells the microphone of France Blue : “She was treated like an animal, she slept on the ground on a blanket, her belongings had been placed in bags in a shed at the bottom of the garden, she had no access to food, she had to ask for the authorization and if she took too much, she was sanctioned. In the end, when she was retrieved, she weighed less than 40 kilos.

Physical abuse becomes daily

Very quickly, to the brutality of the sequestration, physical violence is added. These will go crescendo. Burns, blows, attempted drowning… The assaults will go as far as rape, especially perpetrated with the help of a rolling pin. The young woman also says that the children of the house had to attend, and sometimes participate in this abuse. The lawyer adds “She got out of it in extremis, another whiff of violence and I think she would have been there. This story is hardly believable, she lived through hell, with more sadism and humiliations. The Dispatch relays the remarks made on the first day of the trial. The cousin of the young woman recounts the violence of the beatings “When we picked her up in May 2019, she was only bruises, bruises, wounds. No longer a human being. I didn’t even recognize her.”

In 2019, it is thanks to a chance that the young woman will be released. Alexandra Gimenez is placed in police custody for theft of gasoline and is therefore no longer present in the house. Thanks to the help of the children and their father, the victim can then contact his family, who hadn’t heard from him in two years. She can then escape. Today, the young woman in her thirties is still traumatized. The defendants concede the violence, but refute the rape. “I heard a lot of lies, a lot of things that weren’t true… I recognize the violence and I apologize. I myself grew up in violence. My childhood, my adolescence were very difficult. But me, a rapist, never!” relays La Dépêche. The trial in assizes should last five days, the duo of torturers faces life imprisonment.
