A OnePlus 10 Ultra would be in the pipeline to offer better photo quality

According to leaker Yogesh Brar, OnePlus is working on an “Ultra” version of its OnePlus 10 with better photo quality.

Five months after the release of the OnePlus 10 Pro, initially presented in January 2022 in China, the manufacturer was preparing to launch an improved version, called OnePlus 10 Ultra.

The information comes to us from the Indian leaker Yogesh Brar, generally well informed about the projects of the Chinese firm. In a tweet published on Tuesday, he indicates that OnePlus is currently testing a new smartphone model.

So the OnePlus Ultra flagship is getting into testing phase, focus on cameras & SD 8 Gen 1+

D8000 and SD888 in more Mid-range phones like Nord series

7 Gen 1 phone being planned.

Complicated timelines & products overall

“So the top of the range OnePlus Ultra goes into the testing phase, with a focus on the camera and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+”, says the leaker. He then recalls the positioning of the manufacturer’s various smartphones, indicating that the OnePlus 10 should be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Dimensity 9000 depending on the market, that the Dimensity 8000 and Snapdragon 888 chips will be allocated to the Nord range and that a smartphone from the manufacturer should be equipped with a future SoC Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 from Qualcomm.

But the most interesting remains the start of construction of a new premium smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer. While we expected the OnePlus 10 Pro to be the most high-end smartphone planned by the firm in 2022, it therefore seems that OnePlus still has something to offer. Like Xiaomi – which launched a Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra last year and therefore we are waiting for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra – the manufacturer should thus offer an ultra premium smartphone model.

Expected improvements for the photo

Logically, we can therefore expect a smartphone with the next high-end chip from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ – which should be presented during the summer. Above all, this should be an opportunity for OnePlus to put the package on photo quality. Its latest model, the OnePlus 10 Pro, was received rather coldly for the quality of its images. The French laboratory DxOMark thus placed it in 27th place in its ranking.

If we still don’t know what improvements could be made on a OnePlus 10 Ultra, we can imagine wider sensors, but also a longer telephoto lens to go beyond the x3.3 optical zoom integrated in the OnePlus 10 Pro.
