A Pac-Man movie is in the works

Following the insolent successes of recent adaptations like Uncharted or Sonic The Hedgehog 2, it was to be expected that some publishers would feel called upon to exploit their own vein on film. This is now the case with Bandai Namco, which has given Hollywood the green light for a Pac-Man live-action film to be made in the years to come.

For the moment, nothing is officially detailed, except that Wayfarer Studios, whose only filmic feat for the moment is clouds (intimate drama broadcast on Disney+) will co-produce the film with Lightbeam Entertainment, a company formed by Chuck Williams, animation veteran but above all producer of the films Sonic The Hedgehog. Williams, who is also credited here as the brainchild of the Pac-Man movie.

As a reminder, this is not Pac-Man’s first attempt on small and large screens. Two series, one produced by the Hanna-Barbera channel in the 80s and another broadcast in 2015 on the Disney XD channel (only in the United States therefore), are proof of this. He was also one of the protagonists of the blockbuster pixelsbut that, everyone prefers to forget it…

And let’s add that, because we are snobs, that the yellow glutton was also the subject of a beautifully poetic sequence in the documentary Without sun by Chris Marker to symbolize Japanese modernity. Just that.
