Invited in A Sunday in the countryside this October 30, Sofia Essaïdi made sad revelations about a depression she suffered after experiencing great success.
Fame and success do not only bring good things to those who know them. Sofia Essaïdi experienced the notoriety at a very young age. This one participated in season 3 of Star Academy when she was only 19 years old, and the events were then quickly linked.
She then participates in the musical comedy Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt by Kamel Ouali, which was a great success and enabled him to win numerous awards. She hopes to be able to ride the wave of success by launching a solo album, but it gets complicated for her, and the singer ends up sinking.
Sofia Essaïdi “I didn’t show it”
While she was one of the guests of Sunday in the countryside on France 2 this October 30, the actress confided in this subject: “This is the moment when I want to make music alone, that’s it, I want to make my album. And there, I realize that the people I work with have no desire to know who I am or what I want to do. They just want to format myself, to surf on success. This means making songs that are rather accessible, easy, formatted. And I’m struggling at that moment, I’m lost. I can, I can say, really feel a depression inside. It is really the depression of the artist misunderstood, not heard (…). I didn’t show it, because I hadn’t yet worked on meI didn’t want to show that I had flaws”she delivered.
She then explains that she played a role in an attempt to conceal her depression in front of others: “I suffer, I cry at home, but on the other hand in front of people I have a perfect smile and that’s exhausting. I really fell into a painful depression. Until the moment when I said: ‘it’s no longer possible to live like that’. I can’t live a lifetime like this, to stress myself outto put me a pressure to be the best. (…) I could cry for a week because I hadn’t succeeded in the casting I wanted and then be in ultimate joy… I had to find a happy medium, a balance to endure joys and disappointments and be less dependent on the outside”, she said. The singer later revealed that she was followed through therapy sessions.
