A pond 7 minutes from the scene, searched using an ultra-sophisticated device

This Monday, March 25, 2024, a new location was searched in connection with the disappearance of Lina, which occurred on September 23. Will the investigation finally move forward thanks to this ultra-sophisticated device?

6 months later the disappearance of Lina, investigators still don’t know what happened to the 15-year-old girl or where she went. A real torture for those close to him, including his mother Fanny Groll who recently held a press conference. As a reminder, Lina disappeared on September 23, around 11:15 a.m., while she was walking to the Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station to join her boyfriend Tao in Strasbourg.

Although the investigation is far from being resolved, one avenue still seems more likely than the others: the young girl would have had a bad encounter. As a reminder, several witnesses claimed to have Lina in a car, very shortly before her disappearance. The young girl therefore got into a car before disappearing. The Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office has also opened an investigation to “kidnapping and sequestration” only 7 days after Lina disappeared.

Disappearance of Lina: a new pond searched

At the start of the investigation, Lina’s route to the station was therefore analyzed. And one pond in particular attracted the attention of investigators. This was the Breux pond, located at the entrance to Saint-Blaise-la-Roche. The pond had therefore been searched but these searches had yielded nothing. But this Monday, March 25, RTL teaches us that new excavations took place during the day, in a local pond. Searches which would have been organized as part of training.

Indeed, seven gendarmerie divers have “surveyed a fishing pond at Col de Steige”, according to RTL. More precisely, it is a body of water located 7 minutes by car from the place where Lina disappeared. And this water point had still not been searched until now. The divers from Alsace and Moselle thus benefited from their training and “have chosen to return here near the place of disappearance to close an additional door in the investigation”as explained RTL.

Divers helped by a drone

But this was not a traditional search. Because the divers benefited from using a surface drone in order to increase the visibility of the pond which is only 30 cm. This sophisticated equipment therefore made it possible to provide a sonar image of the bottom of the pond. Advanced technology that allows you to know if there is a body at the bottom of the pond.

This ultra-sophisticated drone could therefore have detected the presence of a body in this pond if there had been one. But once again the research uncovered nothing. A new disappointment for the investigators and especially for Lina’s loved ones. The investigation continues.
