A portable PlayStation console is well in preparation! Here’s what we know

A not-so-portable console?

The new PlayStation portable console is currently codenamed Q Lite and should mainly be based on the Remote Play technology that Sony has been trying to develop in recent times. Thus, this new machine is not really based on cloud gaming, but would still rely on the PS5 to work.

Capable of streaming games at up to 60 frames per second in 1080p, it has an 8-inch LCD touchscreen for this purpose, with controls very similar to those of the DualSense, according to early prototypes. . But, streaming game requires, a permanent connection to the Internet will be mandatory.

Sony puts the package on the hardware

Currently, the Q Lite is still in the quality test phase. So don’t expect to see it out anytime soon. If we are based on the latest hardware rumors at Sony, its marketing could be launched between that of the PS5 Slim (current end of 2023) and that of the PS5 Pro (current end of 2024).

However, one can wonder about the relevance of this famous Q Lite console, which could, given what it offers, know the unenviable fate of the Logitech G Cloud, and join the PS VR2 in the hardware projects of the Japanese giant which did not have the expected success. We will have to wait for an official announcement from Sony to see what is really going on.

The Japanese firm should thus have a lot to tell us on the occasion of a more than possible, but not yet confirmed, PlayStation Showcase in June, in the same period as the other major video game events in the matter.
