WhatsApp is beta testing a feature that allows you to fast forward and rewind a video viewed from a conversation.
Clearly, things are happening with the beta version of WhatsApp. The messaging application owned by Meta is constantly testing new features to improve the user experience. And right now, the eye-catching option is video playback.
Fast forward and rewind videos
Once is not customary, the specialized site WABetaInfo has spotted a new feature being deployed through the beta program which can be joined via the Play Store (when there are places available). What is the approach function? It’s quite simple: two buttons appear in the interface when a video is being viewed. These are two arrows that allow you to jump 10 seconds forward or go back 10 seconds.
To use these two arrows, simply double tap on the left or right of the smartphone screen while watching the video. Nothing very surprising, it’s already something that we see on a plethora of video players, like YouTube, for example.
It’s not a major shake-up in the overall WhatsApp experience, but it’s typically the kind of option that makes using an app more enjoyable. For those who are interested, it will no longer be mandatory to move the cursor on the timeline to go to a specific location in the video that a loved one sends you in a conversation.

Coming back to the fast forward and rewind function on videos, WABetaInfo specifies that only a few beta testers on Android are taking advantage of it at the moment. They were able to see the option appear on updates 2.23.24.4 and 2.23.24.5 of the application.
The function should be rolled out to more people in the coming weeks, still in beta before being offered on the stable version. No exact date can really be put forward at the moment.
