A pregnant woman accuses the police of having caused the death of her baby, the IGPN opens an investigation: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

An arrest that turned into a nightmare. In a short video posted on the website of Mediapart, Twenty-three-year-old Deborah is going to live a scene of rare violence the facts of which took place on November 10, 2020. Indeed, while the young woman was going to the "Arc-en-ciel" shopping center, in Garges-lès-Gonesse, in the company of a friend and her cousin to pick up an order in an Asian restaurant, four policemen approach the group. And for good reason, the young woman four months pregnant, as well as her friends, do not wear their sanitary protection mask. Very quickly, the situation escalates.

72 hours after police arrest, Deborah loses her baby

After having received the remonstrances of the police, the young women separate muttering insults under their breath. According to the police, these remarks would have been addressed directly to them. According to Deborah, as well as close witnesses, the words raised were from a private conversation whose words concerned a completely different person. A few seconds after the insults uttered, the police intervene and one of them throws Deborah's cousin to the ground. The latter, kept at a distance from the intervention of the police, claims to have been pushed "three times, violently" against a wall by the head crossing guard commanding the patrol, trying to indicate that she was pregnant, as she explains to France Info.

Placed in police custody for a few hours and then released because of her condition, Deborah suddenly feels pain in her stomach which leads her directly to the gynecological emergency room in Sarcelles at night. After a quick examination, the young woman who was four months pregnant was sent home. The pain does not pass, Deborah goes this time to the maternity of Blanc-Mesnil: the doctors note "lumbar contusion and metrorrhagia" (bleeding from the genital tract). An eight-day ITT will be issued to the future mother. On December 21, 2020, seventy-two hours after the police stop at the shopping center, Deborah will be rushed to the delivery room and will give birth to a fetus declared stillborn.

A preliminary investigation, entrusted to the IGPN, is underway for "willful violence by a person holding public authority". The policewoman filed a complaint against Deborah for contempt of an agent. For now, medico-legal acts have not been performed on the stillborn child.
