a premium electric SUV as powerful as it is expensive

Polestar has just revealed the exact price and the characteristics of its future Polestar 3 electric SUV. Spoiler: the note will be salty.

Expected at least October, the formalization of the Polestar 3 will not be a big surprise in view of the first information already published by the Swedish brand. The latter revealed the technical data sheet and the price of its electric SUV in several European markets, as relayed Automotive Magazine and Engine.

The Spanish site notably mentions two versions of the vehicle, the main differences of which are in terms of power: 360 kW (489 hp) and 840 Nm of torque for the first, against 380 kW (517 hp) and 910 Nm for the second. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5 and 4.7 seconds respectively.

XXL template

Inevitably, this slight power differential impacts autonomy on a small scale, despite the same battery capacity of 110 kWh. The Long Range Dual Motor Plus Pilot, as Polestar calls it, has a range of 610 kilometers WLTP. The declination Long Range Dual Motor Plus Pilot Perform will offer 560 km.

In both cases, the Polestar 3 puts the package on performance, thanks to two electric motors placed on the front axle and on the rear axle. Its top speed also reaches 210 km/h, regardless of the version used.

In terms of dimensions, this SUV announces an XXL size: its length of 4.90 meters should make it a very long vehicle, as is the case for example with the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo (4963 mm) or the Tesla Model X (5036mm). Count 1.96 meters in width or 1.62 meters in height.

The wheelbase of 2.98 meters suggests good legroom and generous roominess for front and rear passengers. The trunk volume finally amounts to 485 liters: one would have expected more given its size.

We are approaching 100,000 euros

Regarding on-board systems and technologies, there are a host of them: LED headlights, lane departure warning, parking assistance sensor, 360° camera, cruise control, 14.5-inch central screen, USB port on the front and rear, heated seats, 21-inch alloy wheels.

At the end of July, the CEO of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath, was talkative about the price list of the Polestar 3: between 75,000 and 110,000 euros depending on the finish and the options chosen. The Spanish media advances the following prices, probably specific to its market: 92,500 and 99,500 euros, depending on the version – prices which can change from one market to another, depending on the taxes applied in particular.

Let us especially try to remember that Polestar still does not have the right to sell its vehicles in France. The Nordic firm has been engaged in a legal standoff with Citroën for a few years nowthe fault of its logo, deemed too close to that of the French brand.
