A professor accused of sexual assault imprisoned in the Somme


A music teacher from a college in the Somme, suspected of corruption of eight underage students and sexual assault on one of them, was indicted and remanded in custody.

A music teacher from a college in Villers-Bretonneux (Somme) was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, suspected of corruption of eight underage students and sexual assault on one of them, a-t- we learned Friday from the Amiens prosecutor’s office.

The 46-year-old professor was brought on Wednesday at the end of his police custody and a judicial investigation was opened, said this source, confirming information from France 3. For the time being, “eight victims have been identified”, has indicated the floor. They “indicated having received messages and, in some cases, photographs with a sexual connotation”.

For some victims “these are old facts, for others the facts are recent”, he added, specifying that the victims were aged between 14 and 17 years old. One of the victims, 15 years old at the time of the first facts, also declared “to have undergone caresses of a sexual nature”.

This teacher works in a college but, according to the first elements of the investigation, “the sending of messages was a priori made from his home, to victims with whom he came into contact during his teaching activity or within the framework of music lessons within an associative music school”. An investigation by the gendarmerie is underway, in particular to determine “if other victims exist”.
