a racist and misogynistic sketch makes the Web jump

In a sketch from his new show, Norman Thavaud evokes the choice of a black actress to play the main role of the new James Bond. His "jokes" cause an uproar among Internet users, who qualify them as sexist and racist.

At the time of the announcement of the choice of Lashana Lynch, black American actress, to play 007, misogynistic and racist comments swept across Twitter. The young woman had chosen to delete her accounts on social networks because of the cyberstalking she suffered. And YouTuber Norman Thavaud talks about it in his new show, available on Amazon Prime.

The comedian tackles the subject of white privilege, before talking about "the latest bullshit they found to try to fight racism". "The next James Bond character, Agent 007, will be played by a nigga nigga. Are we not going too far in the fight against racism? My name is Bond. Fatoumata Bond. No, it's not at all. I don't agree, ok? James Bond, he's a character, we like him like that, you like him like that. We can't change him overnight for a quota ", says Norman Thavaud.

The sequence did not fail to react, starting with the songwriter Yseult. "Racist comment, misogynist with impunity, normal Norman", she wrote on Twitter Saturday, December 26, video extract in support. Many Internet users share the singer's opinion, others do not. However, this sketch is indeed problematic, as some explain: first of all, not all black women are called Fatoumata, and it is a racist cliché.

Things only get worse in the rest of the sketch: "Or ok. They say that James Bond is a naughty woman. But then the day when we shoot the Michael Jordan biopic in the cinema, I want us to put Thierry Lhermitte, and that everyone validates that normal". Except that, in this case, it would not be a question of inclusiveness and the representation of a part of the population constantly subjected to degrading comments, in this case women and black people, but of whitewhasing. .
