A release date for the Chinese RPG Mato Anomalies


Taking place in a Shanghai-inspired metropolis that combines traditional and futuristic architecture, Mato Anomalies features two main characters. On the one hand the private detective Doe, who must gather information and hack into the minds of suspects, and on the other the exorcist Gram, who ventures into the breaches to explore dungeons and face the supernatural abominations that began to invade the city of Mato.

This trailer doesn’t show it, but Doe and Gram will be joined by allies whose trust and bonding can be gained and bonded through chapters and discussions, hinting at the presence of a social bonding system way Persona. On the combat side, we are told that the system is distinguished in particular by “its team-wide shared health, gear matrix, and dual talent system“.

Developed by a team of fifty people, Mato Anomalies is the work of Arrowiz, a Chinese studio founded in 2016 which has so far released titles such as Beats Fever in virtual reality and the visual novel Hermitage: Strange Case Files. Supported by Prime Matter, which handles the game’s publishing, distribution, marketing and localization, Arrowiz has received a generous investment from Tencent Games. An exclusive artbook of more than 30 pages will be given on pre-order of the physical version, which will be sold for 40 euros.
