A village in Hauts-de-France is protesting the installation of a 5G SFR antenna 45 meters high. This is built just 30 meters from a house.
As 5G progresses in France, the number of contested antenna installations continues to grow. The tranquility of a small village in Pas-de-Calais, Bonningues-lès-Ardres, is today disturbed by the construction of a 5G antenna in the immediate vicinity of certain residences. One of the residents will soon get up every morning with a “pylon view”, which is now pushing local residents to protest.
The 45 meter high 5G antenna sows discord among the inhabitants of Bonningues-lès-Ardres
Residents of the village fear that the installation of this 45-meter high 5G relay antenna will cause the real estate value of properties to plummet, up to 30,000 euros for the resident closest to the pylon. And we don’t tell you about the aesthetic concerns and the risks mentioned for the health of humans and animals.
Some of the local residents are very angry. The antenna, currently being built by SFR, will once be completed just 30 meters from the home of Catherine Hardy, who lives there part of the year. It was on returning from a stay in the United Kingdom that she discovered the building permit, installed opposite her home.
The appeals will inevitably be difficult to deal with, since the antenna is built on the land of a landowner who was not that difficult to convince. He will receive 1,000 euros each year for having given his authorization.
SFR understands the discontent and tries to reassure the worried, probably in vain
What is interesting here, and which changes from certain extreme situations, is that not all residents are fundamentally opposed to the installation of the 5G antenna. Some in reality only criticize its location, much too close to homes.
So obviously, all eyes are on SFR, the originator of the antenna and which will operate it with its competitors. Alternative solutions were indeed proposed, but the operator in the red square only accepted one location.
Salvatore Tuttolomondo, Hauts de France regional delegate at Altice France (the parent company of SFR), is aware of the situation and regrets that common ground could not be found. He nevertheless explains that local residents do not have to fear possible harmful effects from the waves emitted by the antenna. “ Residents should instead ask themselves about the waves inside their homes “, he continues, citing Wi-Fi and the microwave as examples. Not sure that this will calm the discontent of the village residents.
