A rose in honor of Prince Philip

“She looks beautiful,” said the monarch during the planting action at Windsor Castle, according to the British news agency PA. Prince Philip died in Windsor in April just weeks before his birthday in the presence of his family. He would have been 100 years old on June 10th.

The pink and white rose, bred by the Royal Horticultural Society and planted for Queen Elizabeth II, is named after the Duke of Edinburgh. Other plants of the same variety are to be sold under this name, and a few pounds each will be donated to an organization set up by Prince Philip to help disadvantaged children.
