a season 2 already on the way? It smells very good

The Ahsoka series is a great success on Disney+, and this success has not failed to encourage the American giant to start thinking about the future of our favorite Jedi.

Star Wars Ahsoka has just released the final episode of its first season on Disney+. Naturally, expectations are high in terms of narrative tension, enough to make us wonder about the potential plans for a sequel. The fans are, of course, in turmoil.

A logical season 2 for Star Wars Ahsoka

Please note, this article contains spoilers for season 1 of Star Wars Ahsoka. We do not recommend reading the rest if you have not yet watched the series or the final episode. The latter places a heavy emphasis on Grand Admiral Thrawn and his plans for the return of the Empire, through what is referred to as “Thrawn’s Campaign”. It is a series of military and political maneuvers carried out by Thrawn with the aim of not only restoring the Empire, but also destabilizing the New Republic.

Of particular note is the presence of Shin Hati, who some fans speculate is a stand-in for Mara Jade, Luke Skywalker’s wife in old Star Wars canon. Mara, former employee of Emperor Palpatine and Jedi Master, shares a dark and complex past with Thrawn. Although parallels can be drawn between the two, it remains to be seen whether Shin Hati’s fate will follow a similar path…

Although rumors have been circulating about a potential Dave Filoni standalone film centered on Thrawn, nothing is confirmed at this time. What we can learn, however, thanks to the indiscretions of the media Deadline, is that a season 2 of Ahsoka is currently under discussion. Production was, however, delayed due to strikes in Hollywood. However, the project is indeed on the table, which is excellent news for fans. Was this predictable?

The lead actress is ready to return

Rosario Dawson, the actress who plays Ahsoka Tano, has enthusiastically expressed her desire to reprise her role for a second season, if it is confirmed. “We joke about it, but I bring it out because I feel like I helped Dave [Filoni] to realize this role“, she recently told Empire. She also says she is “ready”, “excited” and “available” to once again don the distinctive clothes of the ex-Jedi for a new adventure.

His desire to continue honoring this character’s legacy is evident. “I really, really hope the fans love it“, she said in another interview with Entertainment Weekly. She added:

That means A) we’ll be able to do more and B) we’ve honored the legacy of this character and this adventure, and I know that’s what we wanted to do.

So, the objective was clear from the start: to succeed in order to offer a sequel. We can understand it. It must be admitted that, despite some lengths, the Star Wars Ahsoka series is doing extremely well in the eyes of Star Wars fans.
