Logitech is expanding its range of webcams with the Brio 300, a more affordable model aimed at users looking for better video quality at a lower cost.
The Logitech Brio 300 webcam is positioned as the most accessible model in this range. Capable of capturing images in 1080p, it has some interesting features to improve capture.
Proposed for a price of around 80 euros, this model made of recycled plastic attacks the very supplied market of teleworkers. Users wishing to take advantage of better image quality and more convincing ergonomics than the webcams integrated into laptops should therefore find their account.
A cute and eco-friendly cone
Few surprises when unpacking the Logitech Brio 300 since the box only contains the webcam. Available in three colors, the device is partly made of recycled plastic which explains its speckled coating. A choice of conception and design that gives a relatively modern look to the webcam. That said, this coating can still make the case look like it’s covered in dust.
The body of the Brio 300 thus takes the form of a relatively wide cone, the base of which accommodates the optical sensor, the single microphone and a highly visible indicator LED which activates when the camera is in use. A pivoting privacy cover is also included and allows the sensor to be completely blocked when the camera is not in use.
The connection is provided by a USB C cable attached to the camera, the length of which would have benefited from being longer to facilitate its installation, in particular on a screen. In addition, we regret the absence of a USB C to USB A adapter since not all computers yet have sufficient USB C ports.
On the other hand, the articulated support has been very well thought out and facilitates the installation of the Brio 300. It can easily find its place at the top of a screen, regardless of its thickness, as well as on a laptop PC. Finally, nothing prevents you from completely folding the support to place the camera on any flat surface.
Basic image setup
Although it is positioned as a basic model, Logitech’s Brio 300 comes with a companion application called LogiTune. This tool allows, in a few clicks, to adjust the video settings of the camera. If most of the parameters can be left automatically, the user retains the possibility of adjusting the exposure or the white balance.
There is also a relatively fine setting of brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness. Finally, various preconfigured filters allow you to give a little more life (or style, it depends) to the image. Of course, these different settings are kept in all applications that use the camera.
The focus here is fixed and cannot be changed. On the other hand, the integrated microphone can be totally disabled using the dedicated setting present in LogiTune. The tool also syncs the user’s calendar for quick access to scheduled meetings.
A very good capture
Let’s now focus on the quality of the video and audio capture of this Brio 300. As a reminder, the camera is limited here to capture in 1080p at 30 frames per second. In practice, we will not ask more of a camera which is intended above all for use on Teams or Zoom.
The sensor delivers very correct images, if we compare them to the webcams generally integrated in professional laptops. The image is sufficiently detailed and the software optimization guarantees a quality image in most bright environments.
In the dark, and with just fill light (and the light generated by our screen), the camera manages to maintain a workable image, as shown in our comparison above. If the quality of certain more expensive models is obviously achieved, this small Brio 300 will be perfectly suitable for the use for which it was designed. The field of vision, announced at 70°, is suitable for use in videoconferencing.

Finally, the integrated microphone manages to capture the voice in a clear and intelligible way, but opens from the usual bocal effect of this type of material. Although it has built-in noise reduction, it does not work miracles and will be limited to the least discernible noises.
