A small majority of you do not want to install an alternative store on your iOS or Android smartphone


The App Store welcomed its first competitor on the Apple iPhone. So, are you going to go ahead and install AltStore PAL? Do you use alternatives to the Google Play Store on Android? This was the subject of our survey of the week, here are the results.

This may be the beginning of the end for closed ecosystems on smartphones. Thanks to European regulations, Apple is forced to open its App Store to competition. For its part, Android has long allowed alternatives to the Google Play Store, but Google must put fewer brakes on the adoption of a competitor.

After the arrival of iOS 17.4 which allows the installation of alternative App Stores, a first competitor has arrived on the Apple platform for European users: the AltStore PAL. We tested it as soon as it was launched.

Do you want to use an alternative App Store?

Opening up this possibility makes us wonder if this is something you would be fond of. Do you want to install an alternative App Store on your smartphone or do you already use one? This was the subject of our poll of the week, and here are the results.

At the end of the survey, a trend emerges: 54% of you are ready to be satisfied with the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. Consequently, you do not necessarily plan to install an alternative blind.

This small majority is counterbalanced by another part of the community that is rather fond of the idea of ​​installing this type of solution. Moreover, 23.8% of you already have an alternative store on your phone, such as that of Samsung, Epic or Altstore. Furthermore, 22.4% of respondents are ready to take the bus, but are waiting for the right solution.
