a smashing comeback stronger than The Witcher 3

Thanks to the Netflix series Cyberpunk Edgerunners, the game Cyberpunk 2077 has revived in an incredible way. So much so that it outclasses the essential The Witcher 3.

The developers at CD Projekt Red must be smiling these days. Off to a bad start with a disaster launch that had disastrous consequences for the studio, Cyberpunk 2077 was able to recover and set a record.

Cyberpunk 2077 beats out The Witcher 3 on Steam

Cyberpunk 2077’s extraordinary comeback is real. In one week, the title saw its number of simultaneous players on Steam start to rise again. As noticed by Benji Salesattendance has only intensified to break records.

  • Monday: 78,478
  • Tuesday: 83,252
  • Wednesday: 86,130
  • Thursday: 89,395
  • Friday: 97,232
  • Saturday: 122,376
  • Sunday: 136,724

As of Monday, there were already more players than the month following the release of the game. Thank you Netflix and Cyberpunk Edgerunners which allowed a much greater synergy than between The Witcher 3 and its live-action series.

Two years after its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 reached a peak of 136,724 concurrent players compared to 103,329 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And it’s not just disappointed buyers who tried again. No, still on Steam, CD Projekt Red’s action-RPG topped the sales charts and exceeded pre-orders for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

This bodes well for the Phantom Liberty DLC.
