Will we one day see Gambit alongside the Avengers or in a solo film? That’s what his interpreter, Channing Tatum, hopes, and a detail from the post-credits scene of “Deadpool & Wolverine” suggests that it’s indeed possible.

WARNING – This article contains spoilers for Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

If you went to the cinema like millions of spectators to see the new Marvel production Deadpool & Wolverine, you obviously noticed the return of several stars of superhero films from the 2000s like Blade (Wesley Snipes) or Elektra (Jennifer Garner).

Gambit’s presence at their side may have disconcerted you, however, since the character appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Taylor Kitsch, but has Channing Tatum’s face in Shawn Levy’s film.

This may be a detail for you…

As we explained here, the actor who will be starring in Blink Twice next week was supposed to play the mutant in a solo film that never happened, much to his dismay. But thanks to Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum was finally able to realize his dream, which could well continue beyond this appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine!

In any case, this is what the actor wants and, above all, what the film allows, which is a worldwide hit via its post-credits scene. Indeed, in the conclusion of the feature film, just after a moving tribute to Ray Chan and Henry Delaney, we discover Wade using the TVA to prove to the spectators that Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) did indeed utter the horrors that the eloquent mercenary repeated to Cassandra Nova.

Behind him, on a TVA control screen, we can then see Gambit in the Vortex. The character would have survived the passage of Alioth, the devouring creature of the place controlled by Charles Xavier’s sister. A detail? Not for Channing Tatum!

…but for Tatum it means a lot

In fact, during a recent interview with Colliderthe latter declared:

I think at this point, if I have to make a guess, [Gambit] is definitely still in the Vortex. But something is happening there that no one is aware of yet.

Channing Tatum therefore seems to know something about his character that has not yet been revealed to the public… The actor nevertheless wanted to clarify that nothing was yet won regarding the possibility of seeing Gambit on screen again in the future:

You never know, you never know. I think I might really never be in another Marvel movie and it wouldn’t surprise me because I almost did one and it slipped my mind. I always talk about it with a grain of salt but I hope Kevin [Feige] will include me.

A reunion with Deadpool?

What is certain is that discussions are underway with the great supervisor of the Marvel universe, as Tatum told Screen Rantalso assuring that he would be ready to be “in any MCU stuff“, and not just a Gambit solo movie.

But if such a project finally comes to fruition, a famous guest could well be part of it since Ryan Reynolds announced in a story published on Instagram (via Screen Rant) :

When he makes a Gambit movie, I’ll return the favor. If he needs someone to carry sandbags, I’ll do it. If he needs a Deadpool, I can do it. Someone to give the team fresh orange wedges, no problem. I’ll do anything.

A beautiful proof of friendship for a duo that we wouldn’t mind seeing share scenes on screen again… The ball is now in Kevin Feige’s court!

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters now.
