A spider that grows and attacks the inhabitants of a building: here is the Sting trailer!

After “Vermin”, here is the trailer for “Sting” an Australian horror film with a giant spider.

Did you like Vermin and discovered a passion for films with spiders? Rejoice here is Sting, a horror film in which a small spider becomes gigantic and attacks the inhabitants of a house.

From the creators of King Kong and Lord of the Rings

But where Vermines involved real spiders enlarged and reworked in post-production by the Mac Guff studio, Sting only uses practical effects. The Australian feature film spider was created by the Weta Workshop studio which worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Blade Runner 2049 and King Kong.

A spider thirsty… for fresh blood

Directed by Kiah Roache-Turner, Sting begins on a cold and stormy night in New York. A mysterious object falls from the sky and passes through the window of a dilapidated building. It’s an egg, and from this egg emerges a strange little spider. The creature is discovered by Charlotte, a rebellious 12-year-old girl obsessed with comic books. Her mother and stepfather are monopolized by Charlotte’s little brother. The little girl becomes attached to the spider and keeps it as a secret pet. But Sting is growing disproportionately, and so is his appetite for fresh blood. Charlotte is the only one who can stop his destructive power.

Starring Ryan Corr, Alyla Browne, Penelope Mitchell, Robyn Nevin and Jermaine Fowler, the feature film is released in American theaters on April 12. No release is planned in France to date.

And if you want to know everything about spiders and find out if they can really grow bigger and start attacking humans, here is an interview with Christine Rollard, araneologist, and teacher-researcher at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris who debriefs us movie scenes with arachnids and reviews preconceived ideas about spiders.
