It’s a sad day for Batman fans, as we have just learned some news that we didn’t necessarily expect. It’s time to say goodbye to someone you greatly appreciate.
We all know Batman, one of the most iconic figures in DC Comics. You may have discovered it through the animated series from the early 90s, or through the Arkham games or simply with the comics. Let’s imagine that you knew him through the famous series that we have just mentioned, then you surely know THE voice actor for the Dark Knight: Kevin Conroy. If so, and you have some affection for his work, then we have some bad news to report.
Bad news for Batman and Kevin Conroy fans
In 2022, we learned of Conroy’s death. A true icon of the world of dubbing due to his legendary performance as Batman. Generally speaking, after his first appearance in this role in 1992, he has played Bruce Wayne in almost every film and animated series featuring the character. And of course, this also applies to video games. Besides, his career as a vigilante technically ended with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. However, given the feedback on the game, the pill has difficulty passing for some people.
However, according to IGN, this is not his last role as Batman. Kevin Conroy has reportedly recorded lines of dialogue for the Caped Crusader series which is due to arrive on Prime Video. Unfortunately, we had not yet had confirmation (we did not even know if he was only going to dub Bruce Wayne). So fans crossed their fingers, and that’s it, today we have the answer to this fateful question. Unfortunately, the answer is likely to leave more than one person disappointed.
It was Bruce Timm himself, the co-creator of the series, who came to dot the i’s. Conroy died before he could record his lines for Batman: Caped Crusader. That was the basic plan, but it didn’t go as planned. “ We hoped he would lend his voice for the new series (and he couldn’t wait to do so) “. Currently, we do not know who will replace him, but it goes without saying that it is far from an easy task.
All hope is not lost
In truth, there remains hope of hearing Kevin Conroy dub Batman again. Please note, this is information to be taken with a pinch of salt. It’s again IGN who explains to us that he will return in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3. On the other hand, if it is ever denied, it will be over (barring a big surprise out of nowhere) and Kill The Justice League will definitely be the actor’s last appearance in the role of the Dark Knight.
