A student hospitalized in emergency, an “unknown substance” at the origin of the tragedy?

What happened within the walls of Caedmon College in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England? A few days ago, emergency services were called to the scene as the students were enjoying their lunch break. The reason ? A student had just suddenly fallen ill, seriously ill. According to the British media, the ambulance very quickly took him to the emergency room since his vital prognosis was engaged. Fortunately, his condition has since stabilized. It remains to be seen what happened in this British school … And obviously, the affair would have been caused by comrades of this young man.

North Yorkshire Police said multiple arrests were made after this student fell ill. According to the spokesman for the police, those arrested are all men and are all teenagers. “An investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the possibility that an unknown substance was ingested”, he added, without saying more. According to British media, the arrested teenagers were taken to the police station. They have since been released on bail. Officers also asked people to respect the student’s privacy and not share any footage of the incident on social media.

A call for witnesses has been launched

In the process, the school sent a message to parents of students: “As a school, we acted quickly and decisively in the face of the incident. The school’s main priority is the safety and well-being of our pupils. North Yorkshire County Council is the lead agency for the safeguarding and protection of children and young people from harm and as a school we will work closely with them”. Anyone with information that could help the police investigation is asked to come forward.
