As promised, One Piece Odyssey made a detour to Summer Game Fest 2022 to showcase its story. What does the new adaptation of the manga with 500 million copies sold worldwide give?
A few years after the monumental failure of One Piece World Seeker, ” the franchise’s most ambitious game », Bandai Namco and its teams are back with a brand new adaptation. The JRPG One Piece Odyssey has been in development for three years at Ilca studio, and mangaka Eiichiro Oda has contributed to the story and character designs.
A new trailer for One Piece Odyssey
Last March, Bandai Namco announced One Piece Odyssey with fanfare. A JRPG that will mark the arrival of Luffy and his crew on generation consoles. With only a small trailer and a few visuals, details around this intended ambitious game were scant. However, it dropped anchor at Summer Game Fest 2022 not to show gameplay as expected but only a new trailer.
On Chef Sanji’s menu tonight, a presentation of the characters, the island and some very very short gameplay sequences with puzzles, exploration and all the mess. Like any good current RPG that respects itself, the crew will cross a number of dungeons and will have to help the populace based on side quests. And no there is still no release date for One Piece Odyssey. The game will be available later this year on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and PC via Steam. And if not, when will there be real gameplay?
