a surprise announcement that is mega class

John Wick, or at least his universe, is far from having said his last word. Proof of this is this highly anticipated new announcement which will please many people.

We know that if John Wick 4 seems to mark a break for John Wick himself, played by Keanu Reeves, it is not the same for the franchise which still has a lot to say and tell. In particular via various characters who were able to fascinate spectators in the dark rooms during the 4 episodes. Do you see where we’re going with this?

John Wick still has a bright future

Lionsgate has announced a new spin-off of the famous John Wick franchise, centered on the character of Caine, played by Donnie Yen. Introduced in the fourth part of the series, Caine, a blind assassin, will be at the heart of this new production which is scheduled to film in Hong Kong in 2025. Donnie Yen, who left his mark with his interpretation of Caine in John Wick: Chapter 4, will return in this role to continue the story of this complex character. Caine, who had been forced to take a contract to protect his daughter, finds himself freed from his obligations to the High Table, a mysterious and powerful organization. This new film will explore the aftermath of these events and the challenges that Caine will still face.

The screenplay for this spin-off will be written by Robert Askins, known for his work on the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy and for his Tony Award nomination in 2015 for the play Hand to God. Production will be overseen by Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick films, under his development deal with Lionsgate. Stahelski will also produce the film through his company 87Eleven Entertainment, working with Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.

Donnie Yen expressed his excitement about reprising the role of Caine

Working on JW Chapter 4 was an amazing experience. These films resonate deeply because we strive to create action, fights and stunts that are not only exciting and inventive, but also expressive in terms of character, story and emotion.
